As defined by Tilburry (2011), higher education is in a unique position to play a pivotal role in the achievement of sustainable development objectives. However, in a context where college schools and universities are currently recognized as contributing factors to the sustainability crisis, this catalyst potential must be grounded. Higher education is a component that makes a society more sustainable. As it produces professionals in a wide variety of disciplines, its roles become more prominent within the institutional systems of a community.
