Some people don't care about the name(s) they are using on diverse services. Some people try to have the same name everywhere and some may be bounded to it like glue.
In my case, I like my username. ShellOwl is simple, easy to write, easy to remember and the meaning is obvious in the communities I'm around.
Going back a couple days ago. Someone I'm in contact with for years decided to stream on twitch, but the current name wasn't suitable.
I tried to give a helping hand and thought it would be a matter of minutes, what a mistake of mine.
This person didn't have a clue how to decide on a name, no ideas if it should include an animal, not even knowing what it should sound like.
What I thought would take minutes, dragged on for 2 days. I should've known better, cause this was in no way the fault of my beloved person here.
When I think back, choosing a "standard" username for myself that I would openly use for diverse services has cause pain to me for, not 2 days, but sometimes weeks. I'm a person that likes to have a good name, something that matters to me, something that defines me.
I can't tell how many names I've use in the past years, until I found this one that I'm finally really happy with.
If you are someone who thinks your name matters, it kinda does. A username can tell you certain things about the person using it ;)
